Payors are Rescinding their Modifier 25 Policies!

Great news! Stakeholder pressure has resulted in payers rescinding the proposals to reduce EM payment with a 25 modifier. KZA has been notified that the state of California had rescinded its policy. After speaking with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), we also anticipate a written policy change from North Carolina. If you have been notified by any carrier of their plan to reduce the Evaluation and Management (E/M) Service by 50% when modifier 25 is appended and a minor procedure is performed, we recommend that you contact your Specialty Societies to intercede. This is a crucial step that you should not delay.
